de milde lomb isprad o rode

For Good Friday, here is the 13th Century Medieval Hymn
'De Milde Lomb Isprad O Rode'
(The Gentle Lamb, Spread On The Cross)
sung in old English by the group 'Anonymous 4'

hear how recognisable words from our modern English echo down from earlier generations and give us a glimpse of their source, like Light shining through woodland cover

Thank you, Friend.

Good Friday liturgical music isn't exactly something I relish...I guess I sang one too many stanzas of Oh Come and Morn with Me Awhile and O Sacred Head Surrounded as a choir member (oh so many lives ago, it seems!).

Yet today I ask myself how can a tradition so many centuries old just be jettisoned?

The performance by the Anonymous 4 was simple and simply beautiful.

Have a peaceful, blessed Easter.
